About Us

Phyllis Frick is a retired Middle School Teacher. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University and a Drawing Certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Frick is a lifelong learner and continues to study art and teach children at her business, Frick Kids Art. She specializes in collage, drawing, painting, sculpture and sewing. Frick loves to experiment with different mediums and inspire and get inspired by her students.

Debbie Walsh is a retired interior designer with a BFA in art. She loves hanging out with kids - both teaching them and learning from them. They are all so amazing to her, each in their own way. She finds joy in being able to engage them through art and sewing as it opens up so many passages for both the kids and Mrs. Walsh.

Diosdada E. Tehan "Ohhi" is an artist with a background in ceramics, painting and fiber crafts. Having started her career in educational programming hosted by the San Diego Natural History Museum, she knows the importance of helping children understand the world around them. She wants all kids to have exposure to as many artistic mediums as possible because she believes there is an artist in everyone.

Zoe Fritz is studying art education at Calvin University in Michigan. She loves art, children and learning. She is dedicated to making each child feel important and included in every way.

Lydia Endora has over fifteen years of experience designing and sewing dresses and clothing. She loves sustainable fashion that makes a bold, stylish statement. Lydia loves sharing her skills and helping others learn to craft pieces that not only fit perfectly but also tell a story of sustainability and innovation.

Bailey Mahoney is a student at Oak Park River Forest High School. She has an affinity for anything creative and is great with kids. Bailey loves art because “without art the world would be boring.” Bailey wants to share the wonders of creativity with the next generation.

Jana Frank is the proud owner of the Mathnasium in Oak Park/River Forest and has been partnering with Frick Kids Art since before its inception. Jana collaborated with Phyllis Frick when she was still teaching science at Brooks Middle School. Jana loves hosting Frick Kids Art Workshops at Mathnasium because she sees the intersection of math and art as an opportunity to stimulate the multiple intelligences and different parts of the brain for a fully engaging experience.

Reilly Duda is studying psychology at Dominican University. She is an artist with an array of interests including Anime, wheel throwing and painting. What Reilly loves about art is how it can express feelings and emotions in ways that are different and unexpected. Reilly likes to have meaning flow into her pieces and the pieces of the children she teaches about subjects that can be hard to explain, such as fears and phobias.

Emily Heneghan has a degree in art education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She teaches K-5 Art at BJ Hooper Elementary school in Lake Villa. She practices mixed media, sculpture, and large scale painting. She has refined her process into an experimental practice that focuses on abstraction and play. Working in many areas like moldmaking and casting, found object art, and furniture upcycling she uses her multifaceted interests to look at projects with a new perspective and is always learning from her students.

Mille Grant began her art career as a student at Frick Kids Art, became a junior counselor and quickly moved her way up to become a teacher's assistant. Millie relates very well to the children, is kind, funny and patient. She also has many creative ideas for art projects that she brings to the table.
