THE FOUNDER

Phyllis Frick

Phyllis Frick is a retired Middle School Teacher with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University and a Drawing Certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A lifelong learner, she founded Frick Kids Art in her home studio in 2023 to share her passion for collage, drawing, painting, sculpture, and sewing. Phyllis loves to experiment with different mediums, continuously finding inspiration in her students while helping them discover their own creative voices.

  • Emily Heneghan

    Emily is currently studying K-12 art education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her artistic practice is rooted in exploration, spanning mixed media, sculpture, large-scale painting, and furniture upcycling. She brings a fresh perspective to her students through experimental techniques like moldmaking and casting.

  • Reilly Duda

    A psychology student at Dominican University, Reilly is a versatile artist skilled in anime-style drawing, wheel throwing, and painting. She views art as a powerful tool for expressing complex emotions and fears, and she strives to bring a sense of flow and meaning to every piece she creates.

  • Bailey Mahoney

    Bailey is a student at Oak Park River Forest High School who believes that "without art the world would be boring." With a natural affinity for creativity and a great rapport with children, Bailey is dedicated to sharing the wonders of artistic expression with the next generation.

  • Jana Frank

    Jana is the owner of Mathnasium in Oak Park/River Forest and a longtime collaborator of Phyllis Frick. She hosts Frick Kids Art Workshops at her center, viewing the intersection of math and art as a vital way to stimulate multiple intelligences and provide a fully engaging learning experience.

  • Trevor Edwards

    Trevor has been an educator for over a decade, currently working in District 97 and at the College of DuPage. While he specializes in hand-drawn art, he is a passionate explorer of various mediums and loves helping students develop new skills and spark fresh ideas.

    Lydia brings over fifteen years of experience in fashion design and dressmaking to the team. She is a specialist in sustainable fashion and stylish, bold statements, teaching students how to craft pieces that are both perfectly fitted and narratively innovative.

    Zoë is studying K-12 art education at Calvin University in Michigan. She has a particular passion for 3D art and finding beauty in the small details of nature. She loves working with "rambunctious tiny humans" to help them see the beauty in everything around them.
